DepEd Budget 2010

I have here in my possession for quite a while the detailed DepEd budget for 2010 as approved in the General Appropriations Act for 2010. I thought it would be prudent to share it with you since this is a Public Document anyway, in fact i took it on the website of the Department of Budget and Management http://www.dbm.gov.ph and since only a few visit their website for reference purposes, i made the initiative to download a copy and provide it for my readers.
One of the reasons why it is imperative for you to get to know the budget for your school is not because you are finding way to pin down the principal for any corruption, that is not my intent but rather you will have the idea of the scope of capability your school can deploy. Example, You would know that your school has the ability to support your deserving students to go up to the regional level or national level of MTAP exams, with that you can prepare your students accordingly since you know that your school has the budget to support you.
I was holding this document since December 2009, after the GAA 2010 was approved by congress, but i was quite surprised to know that a lot if not all of the public school teachers i’ve met knew how much their school receives or will receive annually particularly the MOOE and i don’t want to speculate on the reasons why some principals don’t let their teachers know about it (in government service, transparency is the key). I do not have the slightest idea how the DepEd disburses the money and its accounting practices so its beyond me already, our intent here is to spread the information around. Because that is one of the best way to preempt corruption.
This list provides a detailed budget for every school in the country, being a part of the institution it is our duty to know every detail of it particularly when it comes to money. While the DepEd has achieved remarkable gains in terms of anti corruption drive and the people’s trust, still just like any other government agency/branch being transparent is not a just a prerogative but an imperative.
